Entries for this international awards scheme are welcome from infection control teams in all countries around the world - closing date for entries is 31 January 2008
Oxoid reports that the 2007/2008 Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards, with a first prize of £5000, and second and third prizes of £1000 and £500 respectively, are now open for entry.
These awards were instigated by Oxoid in 2003 to recognise and reward the dedicated teams of infection control microbiologists, infection control nurses and doctors who, each day, strive to prevent or reduce rates of hospital-acquired infections and improve infection control procedures, making hospitals safer places for patients, staff and visitors alike.
The awards are judged by a panel drawn from the International Association of Infection Control, the Hospital Infection Society, the Infection Prevention Society (previously known as the Infection Control Nurses Association) together with renowned infection control professionals and representatives from Oxoid.
The awards are simple to enter - a summary of activity in 1800 to 2500 words is all that is required - and previous teams have found the entry process to be very motivating.
"Previous entrants have told us that it is only when they began to compose their entry that they became aware of just how much they had achieved in one year.
"For those who work in this challenging arena, this can be highly motivating," said Fiona Macrae, awards manager at Oxoid.
