Workshop 'High throughput process development technologies: promises, myths and truths' will be run by Jonathan Dempsey, process science fellow at Invitrogen PD-Direct, at Biological Production Forum
Invitrogen's PD-Direct, a fully integrated service for customised bioprocess development, is hosting a workshop on high throughput (HT) technologies in process development at 2pm, Wednesday 4 June at the Biological Production Forum in the Arabella Sheraton, Munich.
Dempsey, a scientist with many years experience in assessing and using HT methodology for manufacturing biological therapeutics will be sharing his expertise, by discussing with real examples, how workflows can benefit from the addition of HT technologies.
He will focus on areas such as: understanding the real amount of time needed to assess systems; what impact adding a new technology will have on upstream and downstream processes; and the data management tools required for successfully integrating new HT equipment into the workflow.
Dempsey, process science fellow at Invitrogen PD-Direct, commented: "With the global drive to produce more affordable biological therapies, the use of HT technologies in process development is appealing because many can shorten timelines, thus significantly increasing the prospect of manufacturing proteins with a lower cost of goods.
"However, utilising them can be expensive and some technologies have limitations.
"This is which is why I'm looking forward to running this exciting workshop at the Biological Production Forum, as I will be able to provide some real insights into how scientists can use HT systems intelligently to improve their large scale bioprocessing, which will in turn help them produce more profitable biopharmaceuticals."
