Now available in the UK from Southern Scientific is the completely new Hidex 300SL liquid scintillation counter that provides a compact, accurate, easy-to-use and versatile instrument
Weighing less than 100kg even with the detector shield and just 50cm wide, 68cm high and 63cm deep, the Hidex 300SL is ideal for where bench space is limited and an automatic, accurate liquid scintillation counter is required.
Easily transportable it is also suitable for mobile laboratories.
The Hidex 300SL is the limousine of automatic liquid scintillation counting and is the first product of this type to be designed from new for over a decade.
The ingenious design places three photomultiplier tubes aligned at 120deg to each other enabling triple to double coincidence ratio counting (TDCR) that increases efficiency while allowing for automatic quench correction without using an external source.
Sample vials are placed on a choice of two trays either in an 8x12 matrix format giving a total of 96 7ml vials in one tray or a 5x8 matrix of 40 20ml vials.
The trays can also be used in sample preparation instruments such as liquid handling stations or cell harvesters.
Other features include optional alpha/beta separation, cooling to 15C, active guard for background reduction and external standard for traditional quench determination.
The instrument is operated from an external PC and operates MikroWin 2000 lite software.
It has an easy to use interface, unlimited number of pre-stored isotopes and protocols with easy interface to Excel or other data reduction programmes.
