Invitrogen has announced the launch of its Gibco Primary Rat Cortex and Hippocamus Neurons.
The company said the cells offer an alternative to freshly isolated neurons, which may exhibit variability from experiment to experiment.
The cells are isolated from day-18 Fisher 344 rat embryos and cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen.
The cells are optimised to grow in Invitrogen's Neurobasal media, supplemented with B27, which is a special formulation of media that meets the specific requirements for growing neuronal cells, and neuronal cells grown in Neurobasal media show minimum or absence of glial cells growth.
