A Raman polarisation accessory for the Ramanstation 400 spectrometer has been released by Perkinelmer.
The accessory features a high-quality video camera with a built-in adjustable sample illumination source, which is essential for accurate sample positioning and alignment.
The Raman polarisation accessory's optical head can easily be positioned for analysis of an array of samples.
It rotates downward for working with samples on microscope slides and with pieces of fabric or plastic, and can be clicked into the horizontal position for analysis of samples in cuvettes, capillary tubes and vials.
For standard Raman spectral acquisition, the polarisers can be removed.
Polarised Raman measurements are most often used to understand the orientation of molecules in organised environments such as crystal lattices, liquid crystals and polymer samples.
However, the measurements can also yield valuable spectral information about molecular structure of samples in fields such as synthetic chemistry or polymorph analysis.
