Firstsight Vision has announced a laser source from Stockeryale that is suitable for flow cytology, confocal microscopy and other bio-instrumentation applications.
Integrating the Flat-Top Generator, Stockeryale's refractive beam shaper, into the Lasiris laser portfolio, produces the uniform flat-top illumination necessary for many scientific applications.
With a wide range of power and wavelength sources from UV to IR, this powerful combination produces even laser illumination in two dimensions, creating rectangular illuminated areas.
The Flat-Top Generator is a laser beam shaping module that converts a Gaussian beam into a focused, collimated or diverging flat-top profile.
The beam shaping delivers over 90 per cent of the laser power, compared to traditional clipping techniques that can reduce power by over 50 per cent.
The advantage is lower power, and so lower-cost lasers can be used to deliver the same illumination.
The system can also maintain a high degree of uniformity, power, and intensity over large distances.
