M and P International has won a contract to supply digital acoustic control systems (DACS) to NASA Plumbrook in Ohio.
M and P and its partners Benham Engineering and Aiolos will build, commission and control the Reverberant Acoustic Test Facility (RATF), which M and P claims is the most powerful acoustic chamber in the world.
The RATF will be configured with 23 servo hydraulic modulators and 13 electromagnetic modulators, all controlled with the M and P DACS.
Up to 24 control/measurement microphones are also supported.
The DACS, based on VTI Instruments' VXI hardware, will be controlled remotely via a fibre-optic LAN.
NASA Plumbrook is scheduled to start testing the constellation's Orion in 2013.
Delivery of the facility is planned for spring 2011.
