Porvair Filtration showcased its Chromatrap chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay technology at the recent Epigenetics Europe congress in Munich.
The company also presented the new technology at the Epigenomics of Common Diseases conference held at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre in Cambridge, UK.
The Chromatrap spin column approach is claimed to offer significant advantages compared with methods based on sepharose or magnetic beads, which involve many steps of separation, pipetting and re-suspension.
Independent tests with Chromatrap have demonstrated levels of DNA pull-down that are up to 25 times higher than with traditional bead-based procedures, excellent DNA enrichment with signal-to-noise ratios typically two to three times better than competing procedures and good performance even with samples with as few as 15,000 cells per assay.
