The latest release of Tecplot, the 2-D and 3-D graphing software, incorporates even more performance and speed improvements
Those who have seen Tecplot, the acclaimed 2-D and 3-D graphing software, will be amazed to discover that the latest release incorporates even more performance and speed improvements. Tecplot 9.2 draws faster by utilising hardware and is smarter about caching information.
Tecplot's strength is its scope. With hundreds of 2-D and X-Y plotting options, it's a comprehensive data graphing and plotting tool, comparable with anything else on the market.
But at the high end, it can handle sophisticated 3-D plots from data sets with millions of data points.
New options in version 9.2 load data faster, especially with large data sets or multi-zone data.
Importing non-standard ASCII data with the new General Text Loader is quick and intuitive.
Other new capabilities include support of Mac OS X, Windows XP and Linux 2.2; and there are several new add-ons. Extrude, PrismGrid, and TetraGrid, for example, all solve specific problems.
Extrude takes a 2-D shape (1-D line) and creates a 3-D volume (surface) by pushing the surface outward in the Z-direction.
TetraGrid takes a set of 1-D zones and creates a tetrahedral volume grid.
PrismGrid takes a surface (defined by triangulating a group of points) and fills the area below a specified Z-value with a prismatic volume grid.
The resulting grid only exists in the low-lying areas below the specified value.
Most graphing software handles either standard plotting or 3-D data visualisation.
Tecplot handles both, and that's why it really stands out from the crowd.
Tecplot 9.2 is supplied and supported in the UK and Ireland by Adept Scientific plc.
