Works with any word processor, presentation program, HTML tool and other software, to create equations for research papers, class materials, web pages, slide presentations, articles and books
New MathType 5.2 for Windows is now available from UK distributor Adept Scientific.
MathType, from Design Science, is a powerful interactive tool that revolutionises and streamlines the creation of print and web-based documents containing maths.
MathType works with any word processor, presentation program, page layout program, HTML-authoring tool and other types of software, to create equations for research papers, class materials, web pages, slide presentations, journal articles and books.
MathType is the professional version of Equation Editor included in Microsoft Office and other products.
Compared to Equation Editor, MathType has loads of extra features to let users create a wider range of equations for a wider range of documents, and help them work much more efficiently.
The added functionality effectively transforms Microsoft Word into a state-of-the-art math word processor and web page editor.
MathType 5.2 adds to the new and enhanced features of version 5 by providing full support for Microsoft Office 2003.
This latest release is also compatible with Office XP (Word 2002), Office 2000 (Word 2000), and Office 97 (Word 97). Latest feature highlights include new MathPage technology that lets users effortlessly convert entire Microsoft Word documents to web pages.
MathType converts mathematical symbols and equations into Gif images or MathML, which automatically appear in any modern Windows, Macintosh, Unix and Linux browser.
The Gif equations are of a much higher quality than the jagged-edged equations created when converting Microsoft Word documents to HTML.
Plus the Gif files created by MathType result in much faster download times because of smaller file sizes obtained by optimisation of the Gif colour palette.
MathType makes an altogether superior alternative than trying to save a Web page using Microsoft Word's 'Save as web page' feature, where the results are often less than perfect.
MathType also comes with new translators for MathML 2.0 and improved translators that convert equations to Tex, AMS-Tex, Latex and AMS-Latex.
And it's even easier to edit equations with version 5.2 - users can now take advantage of the Reset Size command to remove all changes made by the Smaller and Larger commands.
They also benefit from unlimited Undo and Redo commands - earlier versions of MathType only allowed users to undo the very last editing operation.
This latest version allows users to undo one step at a time, all the way back to the way your equation was at the start of the editing session.
MathType 5.2 is supplied and supported in the UK and Ireland by Adept Scientific.
