New bioinformatics software provides significant product enhancements to accelerate gene expression research in small- to mid-sized research laboratories
Rosetta Biosoftware and Agilent Technologies have announced the introduction of the Rosetta Luminator system version 2.0, a client-server bioinformatics system for storing and analysing microarray data.
The Rosetta Luminator system provides an affordable enterprise solution with the advanced analysis features and performance needed by small to mid-size commercial or academic gene expression research efforts.
Developed by Rosetta Biosoftware, the Rosetta Luminator system is distributed exclusively by Agilent as an integral part of Agilent's complete gene expression solution offering for life science researchers.
The Rosetta Luminator system benefits from the technology enhancements of the highly scalable and customisable Rosetta Resolver system.
The Rosetta Resolver system has been selected as the global gene expression bioinformatics solution by leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic organisations. Version 2.0 of the Rosetta Luminator system expands its suite of data management and analysis features to include the following new benefits: Anova (Analysis of Variance) study variations between different experiments using advanced patent-pending transformation algorithms that increase the sensitivity and specificity of analysis results; Bayesian classifiers characterise unknown data sets leveraging prior knowledge, enabling such analyses as predicting phenotype, toxicological effect, class or clinical outcome of an unknown sample; PCA (Principal Component Analysis) determines the genes or experiments contributing most significantly to the variation within the data set and reduce the dimensionality of the data when clustering large data sets for greater performance.
The Rosetta Luminator system provides a centralised Oracle database to warehouse all microarray data and relevant experiment annotations.
The system's annotative laboratory information management system (Lims) capabilities enable customers to import and store information related to their gene expression experiments and conduct gene expression data analysis using advanced error models and research tools.
"The powerful analytical enhancements included with the Rosetta Luminator system version 2.0, in addition to the increased data management capacity and performance, provide small- to mid-size organisations with a turn-key solution for gene expression data warehousing and analysis," said Douglas Bassett., vice president and general manager of Rosetta Biosoftware. "Whether it is an academic core facility or a commercial biotechnology company, the Rosetta Luminator system provides an economical means by which they can achieve their expression research goals." "This new version of the Rosetta Luminator system is a powerful yet cost-effective enterprise gene expression data analysis system that helps life scientists to accelerate their microarray-based research and drug discovery efforts," said Barney Saunders, general manager and vice president of Agilent's BioResearch Solutions unit.
"We are pleased to include the Rosetta Luminator system as an important component of our complete gene expression solution, which is based on an integrated, flexible and modular approach to successful gene expression analysis."
