A new brochure on sequence detection systems produced especially for European researchers using real-time quantitative PCRhas been released by Applied Biosystems
The new brochure outlines how researchers using real-time quantitative PCR can save time and money with new technology.
The Applied Biosystems operating system for real-time quantitative PCR offers a means of getting rapidly from target to result and delivers a quick, user-friendly approach to assay design.
The system consists of Primer Express primer and probe design software, universal PCR thermal cycling conditions, single tube master mixes and assay optimisation guidelines.
A target sequence is imported into the Primer Express program, with users able to annotate the sequence with intron/exon boundaries to design RNA specific gene expression assays.
Using a proprietary algorithm, the software searches the sequence and delivers sets of optimised primer/probes with clearly defined annealing temperatures.
Once synthesised, the primer/probe set requires only a single assay optimisation run.
The Applied Biosystems flexible instrumentation platform is ideal for absolute and relative quantitation. Applications include gene expression and gene dosage studies, quantitation of alternatively spliced variants, quantitation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food, genotyping of transgenic animals and SNP screening.
