Applied Biosystems, Millipore, and PerkinElmer Life Sciences have announced the availability of an integrated proteomics platform for high throughput in-gel digestion, sample cleanup and protein identification.
Traditional in-gel digest techniques are time- and labour-intensive as well as subject to variability in reagent preparation, liquid handling and analysis.
The platform consists of the Applied Biosystems proteomics solution system mass spectrometer, the PerkinElmer Life Sciences Multiprobe II robotic liquid handler, and Millipore's Montage in-gel digest96 kit. The Multiprobe II robotic liquid handling system rapidly and efficiently manipulates the components of the Montage in-gel digest96 kit for automated preparation of protein samples and subsequent spotting onto Applied Biosystems Maldi targets.
The kit includes everything needed to digest 384 samples, including prepared reagents, enzymes and four low-binding 96-well filter plates.
The vacuum-based protocol minimises pipetting, reduces the number of transfer steps and decreases the chance of sample loss.
Sample tracking and information is sent directly to the Applied Biosystems proteomics solution 1 system for unattended Maldi-Tof analysis, database searching and report generation. Using proprietary noise removal and deisotoping algorithms, the system generates high quality data and rapid, accurate protein identification.
