20,000 mouse genes on a single bioarray enables scientists to study gene expression across much of the mouse genome in a single experiment
Amersham Biosciences announces the addition of the CodeLink UniSet Mouse 20K I bioarray to its CodeLink Expression range. This new high density bioarray enables scientists to study gene expression across much of the mouse genome in a single experiment for drug target identification, pathway characterisation and drug effect predictions.
Each CodeLink UniSet Mouse 20K I bioarray contains probes for over 20,000 mouse gene transcripts that are derived from publicly available, well-annotated mRNA sequences found in the UniGene and RefSeq databases.
Amersham is unveiling this new high density bioarray at the 5th EMBL Mouse Molecular Genetics Meeting in Heidelberg, Germany this week.
"We are currently using the CodeLink mouse array for our drug target discovery work in diabetes and obesity," comments Mark Braughler, senior vice president of business development at TissueInformatics, a provider of tissue analysis services, tissue analysis software and drug discovery partnering solutions. "TissueInformatics approach to the discovery of targets uses a unique combination of quantitative histomorphometric tissue data and gene expression data.
"As we are combining complex datasets, it is vital that gene expression data is of the highest quality and reproducibility.
"We have found this to be the case with CodeLink, and through our assessment of other platforms, have found no comparisons in terms of consistency and precision.
"We are looking forward to working with the new mouse 20K array to flesh out the large number of important pathway genes that are critical to our research at TissueInformatics".

CodeLink Bioarrays utilise patented 3D surface technology along with pre-screened and functionally validated 30mer full length oligo probes to offer the most reproducible, sensitive and reliable microarrays commercially available.
CodeLink UniSet Mouse 20K I Bioarray will be available in October 2003.
