Medium will enable scientists from a wide range of disciplines to increase the resolution of the purification processes without losing chemical or physical stability
Amersham Biosciences announces the launch of a new medium designed to provide improved resolution in the purification of GST-tagged proteins, Glutathione sepharose high performance. Glutathione sepharose high performance consists of highly cross-linked 34um agarose beads to which glutathione has been immobilised.
The resulting medium selectively retains GST-tagged recombinant proteins, allowing them to be purified from cellular contaminants in a simple one-step purification.
The small bead size also gives distinctly separated peaks containing concentrated material.
Allan Simpson, vice president of laboratory separations, Amersham Biosciences, said, "Our customers are increasingly looking for improved ways to purify GST-tagged proteins.
"This new medium will enable scientists from a wide range of disciplines to increase the resolution of the purification processes without losing chemical or physical stability".
Glutathione sepharose high performance will be available in several formats for convenience and flexibility, including lab packs of 25ml and 100ml, as well as pre-packed GSTrap HP 1ml and 5ml columns.
The pre-packed columns add additional convenience in terms of time savings and reproducibility of results.
GSTrap HP columns are simple to use either with just a syringe, a simple pump or on a chromatographic system such as Akta design.
