Portable forensic laser system provides trace evidence detection at a crime scene or in the laboratory
Coherent introduces Incriminator - a high-performance, portable forensic laser system optimised for the demands of in-the-field forensics investigations.
Incriminator is a rugged, easy-to-use device with an unparalleled high-power light output.
Especially optimised for fingerprint detection, Incriminator also detects trace evidence such as fibres, bodily fluids, footprints, and gun shot residue.
"The use of light and its interactions with matter is a powerful tool to the forensic scientist and technician," said Nigel Gallaher, product line manager for Coherent.
"The Incriminator's high-power output allows users to search entire crime scenes, as well as identify specific materials with an unprecedented level of illumination.
Nothing goes unnoticed, even in high ambient light environments." To illuminate trace evidence, a forensics investigator simply points the pistol grip handpiece at a broad crime scene and pulls the trigger.
A zoom feature optimises spot size for a more detailed search.
The ergonomic handpiece controls the laser shutter and the illumination level.
Investigators can also mount the Incriminator on a tripod for fixed illumination.
A 4.5m fibre delivery system joins Incriminator's pistol grip handpiece to a field-proven 5W or 10W Verdi solid-state 532nm laser.
For maximum versatility and portability, Verdi sits on a folding transport cart.
15m and 23m fibre delivery systems are also available.
All fibre delivery systems include an automatic speckle integrator that homogenises the laser light for uniform illumination across the viewing field.
Incriminator is air-cooled and plugs into standard wall outlets.
