Approximately 192,000 citations on polymer technology available on the web at a flat annual fee, with a free of charge trial version available
From February 2003, Fiz Karlsruhe offers the Apollit polymer database on the web at an annual flat rate of €1600 (for medium-sized and small organisations), €2000 (for large scale industrial organisations), or €1200 (for universities and colleges).
Customers are also offered free trial access with limited search results to get acquainted with the database structure and contents.
This database was formerly produced by Deutsches Kunststoff-Institut, Darmstadt, under the name of DKLit.
Fiz Karlsruhe took over as producer in January 2002.
In November 2002, the database was renamed to better reflect its contents: Apollit - Applied Polymers Literature.
The focus of the database is on polymer technology and on the applications of plastics, fibres, and caoutchouc.
Apollit covers all aspects, from industrial production and processing of polymers to production technologies, technical and physical properties of polymers, and - most important from the practical point of view - applications of polymers.
Among its potential users are the motor car industry, the construction industry, producers of sports equipment and, of course, producers of polymers.
The database currently comprises about 192,000 citations, with an annual increase of about 14,000 documents.
There are two different search modes: a beginner's mode, and an expert search mode which enables highly differentiated searching.
The search produces a list of titles of relevant documents.
Upon selecting a title, abstracts and bibliographic data of that document will be displayed.
Full-text publications on the searched subjects can be ordered online, either through the direct ordering service Fiz Autodoc or through Getinfo, a web service for full-text supply of sci-tech literature.
Getinfo is a joint-venture of Fiz Karlsruhe and Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) Hannover.
In order to access the flat-rate offer, an own user identification is required.
Applications can be made on the Apollit homepage. Parallel to the flat rate offer on the web, Apollit is also available via STN International, the world's premier online service for sci-tech information.
Fiz Karlsruhe's Conference Information Service (CIS) offers a two-year preview, updated monthly, to all those who are interested in receiving information on conferences in the field of polymers.
Information will be delivered monthly via e-mail-attachment at an annual rate between €95 and €300, depending on the number of users.
