Versatile instrument is fitted with an easy-to-read, 12.7mm, 4.5-digit LCD display which allows a range of input signals to be conditioned, displayed, and transmitted
The SMP surface mounting process amplifier has an intelligent base unit incorporating user-configurable 4-20mA and 0-10V analogue outputs, and has a choices of input, power suppliers, communications and relay modules.
High accuracy, low drift and PID control, and digital programming, linearisation and display are all features.
The instrument is housed in an IP65 surface-mounting case 200mm x 120mm x 75mm, all inputs and outputs are isolated, and mains- and DC-powered versions are available, as are a remote, panel-mounting display and DIN-rail mounting options.
The SMW version, especially designed for weighing applications, has a high-resolution option with 19-bit (approx 1 part in 500,000) input resolution, a 6-digit LCD display and 4-point linearisation.
Input modules include Types J and K thermocouples, PT100 resistance thermometers, rate/totaliser, +/-200mV, fast (10ms) strain gauge, and for single and dual channel LVDT, 4-20mA and 0-10V DC signals.
Input resolution is 15 bits (1 part in 32,768 or 0.003%), The relay output module provides two set points together with in-flight compensation.
The relays may be inverted or latched, with scaling in engineering units for ease of use.
The default display may be configured to show either gross or net values.
Communication options available are 20mA noise-immune current loop, RS232 and multi-drop RS485.
Via the digital port, the input variable may be viewed and the set-up parameters configured.
Communications protocol options include ASCII, Modbus RTU and Mantrabus, and baud rates may be selected between 300 and 19,200 baud.
Up to 254 SMP or SMW units fitted with 20mA ports may be connected to one RS232 port via the optional IF25 interface, and up to 25 units fitted with the RS485 option may be connected to one RS-485 port on your PC, PLC or mainframe computer.
