Chemically inert PTFE caps were required at short notice because the workstation could not accommodate standard inert bottle caps currently available on the market
Omnifit has assisted an instrument manufacturer to solve a last-minute design problem by custom building low-profile bottle caps to transfer fluids within a protein array workstation.
The chemically inert, PTFE caps were required at short notice because the final design of the workstation could not accommodate standard inert bottle caps currently available on the market.
The instrument manufacturer had very tight deadlines and Omnifit was able to resolve the problem by designing unique, low-profile bottle caps with the exact tubing arrangements for the instrument.
To allow standard Omnifit products to be used wherever possible, and to avoid last-minute problems like the one described here, the company always encourages design engineers to involve it as early as possible in the design process. Omnifit's bottle caps are suitable for many other applications within the laboratory, such as connecting tubing to inert fluidic systems, solvent reservoirs or waste bottles.
Their inertness also makes them ideal for use with aggressive clean in place (CIP) solutions.
