A selection of self-contained, biochemical-based tests for the identification of key pathogenic bacteria, including gram-negative bacteria, listeria species and staphylococcal species
Following the recent acquisition of the prepared media and diagnostics business of Medvet Science, Oxoid announces the addition of a new range of manual identification systems to its range of products.
The Microbact range offers a selection of self-contained, biochemical-based tests for the identification of key pathogenic bacteria, including gram-negative bacteria, listeria species and staphylococcal species.
Microbact 12A, 12B, 12E and 24E gram-negative identification system.
The Microbact 12A (strip format) and 12E (microplate format) kits provide all the necessary tests for the identification of most common urinary and enteric pathogens.
The 12B kit (strip format) provides 12 supplementary tests for the speciation of more unusual enterobacteriaceae and oxidase-positive, gram-negative bacteria. The 24E kit is a combination of 12A and 12B in microplate format, providing all the necessary tests for the comprehensive identification of gram-negative bacteria.
Microbact 12L listeria identification system.
The Microbact listeria 12L system has 12 wells, 11 wells are carbohydrate utilisation tests.
The final well is a rapid micro-haemolysis test, as recommended by recognised international standard methods.
Microbact staphylococcal 12S identification system.
The Microbact staphylococcal 12S system uses a combination of sugar utilisation and colorimetric enzyme detection substrates in a test strip format for the identification of 22 clinically significant staphylococcal species, including both coagulase-negative and coagulase-positive species.
Each Oxoid Microbact manual identification system is said to be extremely easy to use and interpret, providing an accurate and reliable identification in less than 24 hours.
The listeria identification system can give a result in as little as four hours.
