There has been something of an explosion of different transfer techniques in recent years, based on a whole host of different data transfer protocols.

Firstsight Vision offers a new range of what it described as incredibly small bodied machine vision USB2 cameras from IDS.
The uEye camera range has an enclosure measuring just 32x34x41mm and is the smallest cameras sold by Firstsight Vision. The range includes colour and monochrome versions at resolutions from 640x480 up to 1280x1024 at bit depths of 8, 10 and 12 bits depending on the model.
The uEye range of cameras benefits from a unique SDK that allows the control of all camera functions via the USB cable, substantially simplifying the cabling and control. With USB2 handling the data transfer, there is no requirement for any frame grabber in the host PC and the protocol offers transmission distances of up to 30m and even greater distances if hubs are used.
