A revolution in liquid handling with new flexibility and throughput technologies is the bold claim for this integrated system for total assay automation
PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences has announced the availability of the Multiprobe II Plus and Tandem integrated liquid handling system.
The new Multiprobe II Plus system provides all the functionality and flexibility that the Multiprobe II family is known for, coupled with the increase in throughput enabled by hardware and software technology enhancements.
Tandem, a powerful new liquid handling solution, further expands these productivity enhancements by combining 4- and 8-tip flexible pipetting with 96- and 384-tip technology for total assay automation.
The Tandem system can operate using both pipetting technologies in concert for maximum flexibility and throughput, or independently for exceptional utilisation and performance.
Users can integrate a series of what would otherwise have been independent protocols together, such as a simple serial dilution assay followed by a plate reformatting, or a hit picking and normalisation assay followed by reformatting or reagent additions.
This integrated operation enables extended assay automation for increasing laboratory efficiency.
If an assay requires only one pipetting technology, then the other is free to run another assay.
"PerkinElmer is continuously developing and updating our liquid handling technologies so that our products remain the preeminent solutions for research and screening laboratories," said Paul Gillyon, vice president and general manager, biopharmaceutical, at PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.
"These latest innovations bring together our two gold standard products, Multiprobe II Plus and Tandem, for unparalleled flexibility." The Multiprobe II is one of the world's leading liquid handling systems, with more than 2000 Multiprobe II systems in use worldwide, including the [US] National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, and the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.
