Sample volumes from 0.5ml up to 30ml can be ground up under liquid nitrogen, creating a homogenous sample after agitation of just two to three minutes
With Retsch's new mixer mill MM 301, sample volumes from 0.5ml up to 30ml can be ground up under liquid nitrogen.
The sample and bead are safely contained in the stainless steel screw cap jar which is then immersed in liquid nitrogen.
The grinding sets are placed into the self-locking clamps which are easy to handle and will not release the containers even under extremely low temperatures.
After an agitation time of only two to three minutes, a truly homogeneous sample is produced.
The grinding sets are available with volumes from 1.5ml to 50ml and thus the mill can be easily adapted to varying preparation tasks.
Contrary to other methods, there is no pre- or intermediate cooling time required, the consumption of liquid nitrogen is extremely low, and two samples can be processed simultaneously.
For cryogenic grinding the mixer mill now comes with a special cryo kit, which includes two cryo boxes, two lifting tongs and protective glasses.
The mixer mill MM 301 is also suitable for dry and wet grinding as well as for cell extraction.
Typical applications with the MM 301 include tissue, bone, teeth, resins, rubber and plastics as well as wood, cardboard and similar products.
