Primarily targeted at the pharmaceutical industry, this flexible solution takes full advantage of the latest advances in the use of temperature control in chromatography applications
Extended temperature separations specialist Selerity Technologies launches Polaratherm, its total temperature controller and silica columns that are stable to temperatures up to 100C.
Polaratherm comprises a standalone column compartment with built-in communications, which is compatible and can be seamlessly integrated with any existing high performance chromatograph. Primarily targeted at the pharmaceutical industry, Polaratherm is a flexible solution taking full advantage of the latest advances in the use of temperature control in chromatography applications. Particularly suited for analysing heavy compounds low in water solubility, which require a more adapted high resolution technique, Polaratherm considerably improves work results, enables faster run times, increases efficiency and maximises productivity.
A significant increase in speed is the most apparent benefit of elevated temperature HPLC - up to ten times faster than typical ambient conditions.
The resulting velocity flow increases and higher temperatures mean that the aqueous mobile phases exhibit less polar character.
Programmed temperature gradients mimic solvent gradients.
Further benefits offered by Polaratherm include increased efficiencies with marked improvement in peak symmetry resulting in easier measurement, decreased organic solvent usage - water becomes less polar behaving more like a moderately polar solvent thereby allowing the use of a less organic solvent in the mobile phase, reduced viscosity of the mobile phase means lower pressure in the column so that it is possible to use the smallest particle size column packings, and rapid column re-equilibration between runs - typically less than two minutes.
In-built safety features, complete with vapour detectors, shutdown pumps and watchdog monitoring software, ensure Polaratherm's reliability and performance.
Selerity's Blaze columns manufactured from polydendate polymer guarantee the durability, stability and security of the column at high temperatures, protecting silica particles against hydrolytic breakdown.
