Gamma Scout is a new, low cost, alpha, beta and gamma digital radiation monitor from Southern Scientific that is small, light and easy to operate.
It has a large LCD display and a quasi-analogue logarithmic bar chart indication.
Operation commences with the simple press of a button and a filter switch is used to change the operating mode that is displayed on the screen at all times.
Basic scaler/timer facilities are also provided.
The detector is a halogen filled, end-window G-M detector made of stainless steel that measures alpha from 4MeV, beta from 0.2MeV and gamma from 0.02MeV.
A 2kbyte memory is provided for storage of one month's readings taken every 10 minutes.
The unit is provided with software to provide downloading to a PC.
Housed in a compact, impact resistant, Novodur plastic case measuring only 163mm in length, 72mm wide and 30mm high, the Gamma Scout is CE and FCC15 approved.
The battery has an expected life of ten years.
