New from Southern Scientific is Identifinder, a digital, hand-held, gamma spectroscopy and dose rate system that has neutron measurement capability.
Combining high sensitivity with a wide dose rate range, Identifinder is said to be ideal for mobile gamma spectrometry and all remote applications such as advanced warning systems, hazardous environments, security and nuclear inventory monitoring.
It is capable of identifying artificial or naturally occurring isotopes from within its extensive isotope library.
The instrument comprises multi-channel analyser, amplifier, high voltage power supply and memory and has an integral 2.5x5cm diameter NaI(TI) detector.
Optional BGO, CdWo, CdZnTe and larger NaI(Tl) detectors are also available.
It has a built-in Cs-137 reference source for online stabilisation and in-situ calibration.
An alternative neutron detector can also be included.
The operational temperature range is -15C to +55C. Identifinder can be connected to either a desktop or notebook computer to provide both qualitative and quantitative in-situ analysis with up to 70 spectra of 1024 channels stored in the unit.
Information can be directly transferred to any PC for data storage and future analysis.
