With the acquisition and integration of Erre Emme Reference Materials, a family-owned Italian company, and a new office location in Sesto San Giovanni, north of Milan, LGC Promochem srl represents an expansion of LGC Promochem's activities in Italy.
Erre Emme's customers have been transferred to the new LGC Promochem organisation, which began trading on 1 September 2003.
Commenting on the new business, Elizabeth Bewick, general manager, LGC Promochem, said: "The opening of our office in Milan reflects LGC Promochem's commitment to the provision of excellent customer service.
"Italian customers can call and speak to our experienced product specialists to obtain information about the products we offer and to obtain after-sales advice.
"Our aim is to add value for all our customers at every stage of the buying process and we see a local presence as an important way of achieving this".
Gabriella Somaschini, former director and joint founder of Erre Emme, has been appointed as country manager for LGC Promochem srl and also has responsibility for the general reference materials sales of the new business.
She said: "The move will enable us to serve our Italian customers better.
"Our new home in the Laboratorio Innovazione Breda will also provide us with good contacts to university institutes and local biotech companies. "Customers will also benefit from access to the wide range of products and expertise available from LGC, LGC Promochem's parent company".
