Prefractionation protocol leads to the detection of three times as many protein spots on 2D-page, when analysing a fission yeast lysate proteome
Vivascience announces a new method for sample fractionation prior to 2D-page.
The efficient and reproducible sample fractionation protocol is based on Vivapure centrifugal ion exchange columns. Vivapure anionic ion exchanger (Q) was used to fractionate lysate proteins based on differences in charge.
This fast and reproducible means of reducing the sample's complexity considerably increases the resolving power of the resulting 2D-page.
The results are published in Proteome Science, and show that the Vivapure prefractionation protocol leads to the detection of three times as many protein spots on 2D-page, when analysing a fission yeast lysate proteome.
Vivapure ion exchange centrifugal columns are easy to use, membrane adsorber based protein purification tools.
The spin column format allows the processing of a single sample within 15 minutes and is just as convenient for the parallel processing of several samples simultaneously using standard laboratory equipment.
Vivapure ion exchange spin columns are available in a variety of configurations and binding capacities.
The Mini spin columns with binding capacities of up to 4mg protein for sample volumes up to 0.4ml were used in this application.
