Bruker AXS has introduced a new high performance ultra-bright X-ray source, called Microstart-H, for laboratory protein crystallography.
Microstart-H is the culmination of Bruker AXS's long commitment to research on X-ray source technology in general, and so-called 'rotating anode generators' for protein crystallography in particular.
It claims major advances in anode design, electron and X-ray optics to achieve extraordinary brightness and X-ray intensity, comparable to a typical 2nd generation synchrotron beam-line.
Its advanced design also features operating and maintenance costs much lower than most conventional rotating anode X-ray sources.
The novel Microstart-H also features exceptional positional and intensity stability.
This unique combination of X-ray source intensity and stability allows many protein structures, that could previously only be determined at a synchrotron beam-line facility, to be solved quickly and easily in the home laboratory.
