At Interphex 2005 (26-28 April, New York) Whitehouse Scientific will introduce a new range of narrow particle size distribution challenge microspheres for testing the efficiency of filters.
Starting at one micron, each grade of these glass microsphere standards is only a few microns in width.
This means that they provide and extremely sensitive means of determining the maximum pore size of all types of filter media.
For pore sizes up to about 20 microns dilute suspensions are presented to the filter media and the particle sizes compared before and after the challenging process.
Above 20 microns the test can be performed dry using sonic energy, with the pore size then simply read from a calibration graph.
A new range of standards for particle size image analysers will also be introduced at the show.
