Promising outstanding ion trap performance resulting in superb proteomics and metabolomics data quality, as well as further enhanced information gain per unit time
Bruker Daltonics has announced a new top-of-the-line high-capacity trap (HCTT) mass spectrometer system, the HCTultra.
Its greatly increased acquisition speed and sensitivity, in combination with new Compass software capabilities for intelligent data-dependent scans, redefine performance leadership in LC-ESI-MS(n) ion trap mass spectrometry.
The new HCTultra is said to provide outstanding ion trap performance in terms of sensitivity, speed, and mass accuracy - resulting in superb proteomics and metabolomics data quality, as well as further enhanced information gain per unit time for LC-MS(/MS) applications in pharmaceutical, biotech and academic research.
Its high ion capacity and dynamic range make it suitable for quantitative proteomics, as well as for quantitative small molecule applications.
The HCTultra is designed to be the fastest and most sensitive ion trap on the market.
Its superior full-scan MS sensitivity is a major benefit for data-dependent experiments, enabling intelligent real-time decisions even on low abundance precursor ions prior to ultra sensitive MS/MS fragment analysis.
With the HCTultra, the quality and information content of MS/MS reaches unprecedented levels due to new smart precursor ion selection strategies, says Bruker.
For example, for the analysis of post- translational modifications (PTMs) the new PhosphoScan can easily detect phosphopeptides on-the-fly in a single auto-LC-MS/MS/MS run, whereas the unique PeptideScan in the same experiment allows the selection of multiply charged pre-cursor ions for information rich MS/MS without time-consuming charge state determination pre-cursor scans.
Bruker's bioinformatics suite ProteinScape, which was selected by the Hupo Brain Proteome project as an official tool, can now conveniently handle even millions of high-quality MS/MS spectra created by the HCTultra in large-scale proteome studies.
The HCTultra seamlessly integrates into the Proteineer solution for LC and 2D gel-MS/MS based proteomics projects, and the Metabolic Profiler solution for metabolic studies.
Michael Schubert, vice president of R and D at Bruker Daltonics, said: "The HCTultra sets a new analytical performance and information-generation standard in ion trap mass spectrometry.
"The outstanding capabilities of this exciting new HCTultra mass spectrometer system clearly demonstrate the power of high capacity trap technology for the most challenging tasks in proteomics and metabolomics".
For pharmaceutical customers, the HCTultra offers software tools to support customers in achieving 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
Bruker Daltonics also offers optional IQ, OQ and PV services to FDA-regulated customers.
