Detector can be used on conventional, fluoroscopic and mammographic X-ray machines and gives simultaneous measurements of kVp, dose, dose-rate, exposure time, pulses, dose/frame and waveform
Unfors, the Swedish manufacturer of X-ray QA test instruments, has introduced its Xi model, available from Southern Scientific.
The name stands for extremely intelligent QA device, and it promises to change the future of X-ray servicing and QA.
The Unfors Xi incorporates a revolutionary all-in-one detector featuring active compensation.
The same detector can be used to perform measurements on conventional, fluoroscopic and mammographic X-ray machines and gives simultaneous measurements of kVp, dose, dose-rate, exposure time, pulses, dose/frame and waveform.
Active compensation allows the analyses of the X-ray exposure using multiple detectors and applies advanced calculations to automatically compensate for beam quality and filtration, irrespective of generator waveform.
This feature completely eliminates the need for the user to apply any further corrections to the results, it says.
The Unfors Xi detector is supplied with a choice of two cable lengths (2m and 10m).
There is also the option of communicating with a PC, using either RS-232 or Bluetooth connectivity, where the Xi View software is used to record the test results in Excel.
Tomas Unfors, the founder, states: "The need for a compact and easy to use design was an obvious conclusion drawn from our many conversations with field service engineers, medical physicists and government inspectors.
"Our engineers have focussed on minimising the size of the Unfors Xi while maximising its performance.
"We have provided a small and lightweight, yet powerful, QA device that requires minimal training and is easy to use.
"Our aim is to help you to improve productivity."
