Exhibits several compelling performance benefits that include enhanced specificity, superior sensitivity, and improved stability in a number of standard immunostaining procedures
Sigma has launched a new and improved version of the anti-Flag M2 affinity purified antibody (product code F1804).
The Flag protein expression system is historically recognised as one of the leading fusion tag systems for purifying and detecting recombinant proteins, it says.
This new anti-Flag M2 affinity purified antibody exhibits several compelling performance benefits that include enhanced specificity, superior sensitivity, and improved stability in a number of standard immunostaining procedures including Western blot, dot blot, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and Elisa, says Sigma.
These improved performance characteristics are the result of extensive research by a team of Sigma scientists that developed and implemented a large-scale production method employing a Flag peptide affinity resin to purify the antibody.
The affinity purification results in an antibody that has enhanced specificity while maintaining superior sensitivity with a detection limit of less than 1ng of Flag fusion protein.
The 50% glycerol formulation offers the added convenience of improved stability avoiding damage caused by freeze/thaw cycles.
In addition, this antibody has been shown to elicit no detectable background in bacterial, mammalian, and plant systems, demonstrating its high performance level and utility in a number of applications and expression hosts.
"Sigma has for many years served the needs of scientists by providing a comprehensive offering of integrated solutions of reagents, chemistries and systems to enable their research through the complete recombinant protein expression workflow.
"Moreover, Sigma strives to offer products that are regarded as best-in-class through an intensive programme of continuous quality improvement of all its products.
"This recent antibody introduction is a reflection of Sigma's extensive capabilities and resources in immunochemistry, production scale chromatography, recombinant protein applications and continuous quality improvement," said Michael Hadjisavas, global strategic marketing manager, proteomics and protein expression, at Sigma-Aldrich.
