Instrument is based upon a two-beam Michelson interferometer design, but with powerful on-board control and signal processing - which makes it much smaller than its laboratory counterparts
Acimetrics announces the launch of a portable interferometer for the online real-time measurement of NIR absorbance spectra.
The instrument has been designed for portability and robustness in the industrial measurement markets such as paper making, plastics film and packaging sectors.
However, the company says the instrument is suitable for any area where the real-time, online measurement of the NIR spectrum is important - for example, the food and beverage, environmental, and pharmaceutical analysis markets.
The Acimetrics NIR spectrometer is said to provide greater flexibility, cost-effectiveness and ease-of-use, when compared to its competitors in the online NIR monitoring market.
The instrument is based upon a two-beam Michelson interferometer design, but with powerful on-board control and signal processing - which makes the instrument much smaller than its laboratory counterparts and yet still able to resist vibration in online and at-line applications.
The operational range of the Acimetrics instrument is typically 1000nm to 2500nm using conventional NIR sensor technology.
The resolution is currently 70cm-1 (which equates to 7nm at 1000nm).
The combination of the full spectrum measurement with special on-board signal processing software means that reliable absorbance measurements can be made that would require much higher resolution in a conventional measurement approach.
