System allows researchers to select single step affinity purification or two-step purification with an affinity first step, followed by desalting or gel filtration
GE Healthcare announces a new solution for high-throughput, automated, multi-step purification of monoclonal antibodies with the introduction of Aktaxpress Mab and Hitrap Mabselect Sure.
"Monoclonal antibodies are increasingly important as therapies, especially in cancer management and the treatment of chronic infectious diseases.
"The new Aktaxpress Mab and Hitrap Mabselect Sure together will simplify the purification process by automating an otherwise tedious and time consuming procedure, allowing the customer to automatically produce large quantities of pure protein," said Allan Simpson, vice president of research and analysis, protein separations at GE Healthcare.
"We're proud to offer comprehensive solutions to our customers".
Aktaxpress Mab is a software modification to Aktaxpress - GE Healthcare's modular system developed for high-throughput purification of protein samples.
Aktaxpress Mab utilises a special software wizard to accomplish multi-step purification of monoclonal antibodies.
The system allows researchers to select single step affinity purification or two-step purification with an affinity first step, followed by desalting or gel filtration.
These multi-step routines assure researchers of highly purified target protein with no cross-contamination between samples.
Hitrap Mabselect Sure is a column pre-packed with the new Mabselect Sure base stable media.
This new offering further simplifies the process of monoclonal antibody purification by allowing the customer to clean and reuse the column a number of times preventing cross-contamination between samples.
When combined with the Aktaxpress Mab, researchers are able to reuse the Mabselect Sure column; utilising pre-programmed cleaning in place (CIP) protocols to avoid sample cross contamination while simultaneously maintaining the high binding capacity of the Mabselect media.
