Alarm station and multiplexer can now be incorporated into hand-held, gamma radiation dose/doserate meters
The 6150AD series of hand-held, gamma radiation dose/doserate meters from Southern Scientific can now be incorporated into either a purpose built gamma alarm station or a probe multiplexer.
When used in the wall-mounted Gamma Alarm Station 859, the 6150AD can be used with its full range of probes to monitor gamma and X-radiation, and the alarm threshold can be set by a BCD switch.
When the threshold is exceeded a visual and audible alarm is triggered.
The base unit is battery-buffered and will last six days in the event of mains failure.
The Probe Multiplexer 861-1 is a microprocessor controlled multiplexer that accommodates the 6150AD and up to 10 probes that are applied sequentially.
These are automatically recognised, providing a radiation reading that is displayed and transmitted to the microprocessor.
The probes can be selected manually, by autoscanning or via a serial link from a control computer.
Fully certified, with an intrinsically safe version approved for use in areas containing explosive hazards, the 6150AD is well proven and popular with many operators in the UK and this extended versatility will make it ideal for area monitoring and PET studies.
