Web-enabled HPLC system delivers greater speed, freedom and accuracy to a wide variety of industries; best-in-class autosampler and detectors meet demands for reduced analysis time and remote access
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI) announces the launch of its new remotely accessible Prominence series of HPLC components.
Designed to meet a wide array of application needs, the modular Prominence system combines the highest levels of detection sensitivity available, with the cleanest and fastest autosampler in the industry.
The network-ready Prominence, which gives researchers and scientists instrument access through an internet browser, is said to be the world's first web-based high performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC) instrument control system.
It can connect directly to a lab's network and its XML based interface lets users set-up, control, monitor and maintain their HPLC remotely.
Shimadzu's Prominence system is also crafted to provide the most accurate and reproducible data in the shortest time possible with a new style high-speed injector that delivers improved performance results and the fastest sample injection cycle time available (10 seconds for a 10ul injection).
Coupled with an innovative autosampler design that virtually eliminates sample carryover, Prominence represents a significant improvement over existing product offerings.
In addition, Prominence also claims best-in-class photo diode array and UV absorbance detectors.
Exhibiting the lowest published noise and drift specifications in the world (ASTM methods), all detectors come standard with a temperature-controlled flow cell that eliminates inconsistencies caused by room temperature related changes in absorbance.
"The Prominence system has exactly the kind of enhanced specifications needed for today's practical, real-world HPLC," according to Curtis Campbell, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments's HPLC product manager.
"Researchers need dependable, defensible results - and they need them in a hurry.
"Coupled with Shimadzu software, Prominence gives them that data, and now they can retrieve it, access it, and test it from any PC, anywhere on the network".
Prominence has applications in quality control, controlling and improving process yields, quantifying assays of final products, and evaluating product stability and degradation, as well as many other areas.
Its modular components interact as precisely as other integrated systems while preserving the configuration flexibility that allows users to build the system they really need, says Shimadzu.
