Browser-based hospital point of care data management system allows efficient, effective diagnosis at the bedside and will make quality assurance for point of care testing in hospitals easy
Roche Diagnostics has announced the UK launch of the browser-based Cobas IT 1000 solution for hospital point of care.
The launch of Cobas IT 1000 is described as a milestone in the delivery of effective bedside diagnostics.
The new features of Cobas IT 1000 will enable healthcare professionals to spend more time with their patients and less time organising and managing their patient test data and quality control results.
Healthcare professionals can access the data from any connected computer terminal wherever they are in the hospital, thanks to Roche Diagnostics's innovative browser-based technology.
"The Cobas IT 1000 represents a major step forward in our overall target to improve medical treatment as well as the quality of patients' lives through innovative diagnostics.
"This product will make high quality actionable health information from on the spot diagnostic measurements available, everywhere and whenever needed giving professionals the fullest possible picture in order to make vital clinical decisions" says Adam Longley, Roche Diagnostics's market manager for hospital point of care.
Barbara Bewley, point of care coordinator, Addenbrookes Hospital, welcomes the launch: "Cobas IT 1000 exemplifies the sort of technology envisioned in the government's stated target to improve patient treatment and quality of life through innovative diagnostics solutions.
"This product offers a hospital like Addenbrookes a powerful tool to ensure and control the quality of point of care measurements which are available across the hospital, whenever and wherever needed for diagnosis and treatment".
Cobas IT 1000 allows for management of system configurations, test and material management, operator and point of care instrument management as well as quality control and extensive reporting functions.
It includes the following features:.
An open-connectivity system which connects point of care devices from Roche Diagnostics as well as devices from other suppliers - within one hospital trust, PCT or even across hospital and PCT.
A single interface for point of care data from connected instruments offering seamless data integration to the LIS/HIS.
Enables access and management of patient and QC data received from any connected POC analyser in the hospital.
Provides the ability to flag operators whose certifications to safely use the point of care devices are due to expire and allows the lock-out of unauthorised or untrained users.
When used with the Accu-Chek Inform instrument, visual tests such as pregnancy tests can be captured electronically along with patient and clinician ID, time and place.
