Unique seminar will explore the powerful and highly complementary techniques of light scattering and calorimetry applied to the analysis of proteins and other biological macromolecules
Malvern Instruments and MicroCal Europe are to jointly host a seminar on protein characterisation.
The one-day event will be held at the new Diamond Light Source facility in Harwell, Oxfordshire on Tuesday 31 January 2006 starting at 10:30am.
There is no charge for attendance; lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Anyone interested in taking part is invited to register by 13 January 2006 via Malvern's website or by contacting Alison Vines at the company.
This unique seminar will explore the powerful and highly complementary techniques of light scattering and calorimetry applied to the analysis of proteins and other biological macromolecules.
Topics will include protein sizing; determination of absolute molecular weights and polydispersity; measuring gold-standard affinities of interactions; optimising protein crystallisation conditions; determining binding mechanisms; characterising protein homogeneity; and measuring protein unfolding and re-folding.
Malvern Instruments is a supplier of particle analysis systems for particle characterisation and rheological applications.
Advanced measurement technologies are combined with robust mechanical designs, and comprehensive data handling and automation software, to provide industrially relevant systems to sectors as diverse as pharmaceuticals and cement.
MicroCal develops and manufactures the most sensitive and reliable microcalorimeters available, primarily for use in the life sciences.
