GRI's technical sales specialists will promote Evogen's Evocycler system, a thermal cycling system that combines ultra- rapid amplification with end-point product detection, in a single platform.
GRI (Genetic Research Instrumentation), an independent supplier of biotechnology products, will represent Evogen (UK), exclusively within the UK, France and Ireland.
GRI's teams of technical sales specialists will promote Evogen's Evocycler system, a thermal cycling system that combines ultra-rapid amplification with end-point product detection, in a single platform.
The Evocycler represents a new middle ground; fast thermal cycling and results analysis in one straightforward system.
Each assay generates a Gel Photo, similar to the familiar electrophoresis run; melt curve analysis is simply performed by the instrument at the end of the run, and the analysis is displayed in 'gel' format for quick yes-no results.
The Evocycler's software powerfully deskills the experiment design process by automating choice of primer and reaction conditions and seamlessly integrating this with data analysis and auto-calling of results.
Enabling researchers to concentrate on results generation, not protocol design.
Ben Cobb, Evogen's managing director, commented: "We have taken a radical approach to the design of this system, based on the evidence of how thermal cyclers are actually used day-to-day in a working laboratory.
"Low sample numbers are the norm, electrophoresis is viewed as a labour intensive bottleneck and quantitative analysis is very often not a requirement.
"The Evocycler generates results within 30 minutes, removes the need for electrophoresis, and provides significant software tools to aid protocol design and results analysis.
"With this system available at a cost comparable to that of a standard thermal cycler, gel rig and power supply, we anticipate researchers will also see its advantages.
"In working with GRI to promote the Evocycler system, we believe that we have the perfect partners to promote, sell, support and service our products.
"With GRI's experience of launching new technology into the biotech market place, we trust that our systems are in good hands".
GRI Molecular Biology and GRI France will promote Evogen's technology and product range with immediate effect within the UK, French and Irish biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostic and research markets.
