Paradigm Diagnostics announces that it has been granted Performance Tested Method status by the AOAC Research Institute for its patent pending listeria indicator broth product (PDX-LIB)
Paradigm developed PDX-LIB to simplify and streamline environmental Listeria testing in food processing plants, as part of a rigorous Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) program.
PDX-LIB simplifies listeria testing by consolidating a complex multi-step cultivation process into a single stage, specific selection and indicator growth broth.
PDX-LIB saves food processors time and expense by minimising the need for extensive sample handling, which is currently necessary to obtain presumptive positive listeria samples.
Users simply place environmental samples in the PDX-LIB media and incubate at 37C for 30 to 48 hours.
Positive listeria samples darken the media in 30 hours.
Samples that do not change colour are held for 48 hours to obtain confirmed negatives.
Presumptive positive samples can then be confirmed by other analytical methods.
"AOAC certification approval (040501) is significant because it validates Paradigm Diagnostics's unique patent pending technology," president and CEO Frank Klisanich explained.
"Our product breakthrough reduces the cost of listeria safety programmes and reduces testing time".
"We are delighted to introduce PDX-LIB to food processors in the United States, and around the world".
PDX-LIB is available directly from Paradigm Diagnostics or from authorised distributors.
Paradigm Diagnostics is a privately held company that develops, manufactures and markets advanced, cost effective, time saving environmental diagnostic tests to improve food safety in food production facilities.
Paradigm maintains a production facility and an R+D lab at the University of Minnesota, St Paul campus.
The AOAC Research Institute Performance Tested Methods are independently tested, rigorously evaluated and thoroughly reviewed by the AOAC Research Institute and its expert reviewers.
The Performance Tested Methods programme provides an independent third-party review of test kit performance claims.
Test kits found to be in conformance with their claims are granted Performance Tested Methods status by the AOAC RI.
The Performance Tested Methods status assures the test kit user than independent assessment has been conducted and the kit performs as claimed.
