A high quality strain gauge load cell has an integral digital conditioning amplifier that will connect directly to an RS485 network to interface with a computer or PLC
The load cells are available in stainless steel bodies only 32mm (1.25inch) in diameter with full scale ranges from 200Newtons to 50kiloNewtons (50 to 10,000lbf) and with a choice of male-male, male-female and female-female threaded mechanical connectors, they will handle tensile or compressive forces, are sealed to IP65, have shunt calibration, and an operating temperature range of -20 to +80C.
The integral digital conditioning amplifier is fully programmable and can read at speeds up to 500Hz and at resolutions to one part in 400,000.
The RS485 interface is programmable to operate at speeds between 2400 and 230,400 baud, and is available in several protocols including Ascii and Modbus.
Said Celsum's managing director, Roy Carter, "The MDLC digital miniature load cells were developed for a key aerospace application in order to reduce the need for separate conditioning electronics, saving space, weight and cost.
"They have many applications in research, development and industry, and we are always very happy to look at requests for non-standard specifications to tailor the instruments to specific tasks."
