Olympus has introduced the M-Comb laser combiner, designed for the FV1000 laser scanning confocal microscope
The M-Comb laser combiner is designed to simplify the integration of multiple laser sources.
It can be used with laser diodes at 405, 440, 473, 559 or 635nm, the green helium 543nm gas laser, and the multi-argon (457/488/514.5nm) gas laser.
The availability of the various lasers provides wide flexibility in research applications.
A newly developed broadband optical fiber for the M-Comb delivers a wide range of wavelengths to the FV1000 scan unit.
This single optical fibre laser delivery ensures concentrically aligned laser outputs.
When the M-Comb laser combiner is configured for use with laser diodes, it is only half the size of previous laser combiners.
In addition, it is extremely quiet and generates substantially less heat.
It can also be configured for use with the FV1000's proprietary SIM scanner, offering dual outputs to accommodate simultaneous stimulation and imaging.
Computer controlled AOTF on each of the beamsplitter paths, and fiber optic output, allow independent control of laser outputs for stimulation and imaging applications.
