The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) appointed Veronika Martens to the board of trustees of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB).
Martens, who heads the Sartorius Metrology Center, will serve for a five-year term on this 27-member board, which advises the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the PTB concerning key issues of this national metrology institute.
Headquartered in Braunschweig and Berlin, the PTB is the highest German government authority for metrology.
Martens has been at Sartorius for more than 30 years and has been at the helm of the Metrology Center of the Mechatronics Division since 1993.
Meanwhile another Sartorius staffer, the board of directors of the Parenteral Drug Association has announced the election of Maik Jornitz as chair-elect (vice chairman).
The group vice president, marketing filtration and fermentation, at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, has been an active member of the PDA for close to 15 years, holding multiple functions.
Before becoming chair-elect, he was treasurer and chair of the 2008 annual meeting as well as a task forces member, including his direct involvement in Technical Report 26 on liquid sterilising filtration.
The PDA is a key global pharmaceutical association with over 10,000 members.
ChemImage has announced a new management team led by recently appointed chief operating officer John Belechak, formerly its director of operations and controller.
The new team also includes Bob Kibler, vice president of sales and marketing, John Maier, vice president biomedical research, and Patrick Treado, chief scientist and chief technology officer.

GenoLogics has appointed Sal Sanci, vice president of products, and Paul Ford, vice president of finance, to its management team.
Sal Sanci is a technology community veteran with over 20 years of experience.
He most recently held the position of VP technology at Teligence.
The company says he will be a critical member of the team in 2008 as it aims to launch two new products, and he will also ensure the successful adoption of its newest product Geneus.
Paul Ford joins GenoLogics from private equity firm PineRidge Partners in Tokyo, where he most recently held the position of executive director.
In addition to these two, GenoLogics announces the appointment of Don Listwin as chairman.
Listwin is also a technology industry veteran, formerly the number two executive at Cisco Systems, and has been a member of GenoLogics's board since early 2006.
He is also the chair of the board of Canary Foundation and Sana Security.
Sage-N Research has added professor Roman Zubarev from the Uppsala University in Sweden to its scientific advisory board, which currently includes proteomics pioneers professors Ruedi Aebersold (ETH Zurich), Steven Gygi (Harvard Medical School) and John Yates (Scripps Research Institutes).
Zubarev is collaborating with Sage-N Research on data analysis of two key proteomic mass spectrometry technologies: electron transfer dissociation (ETD) analysis and pathway search engines.
These allow researchers to accurately characterise protein modifications and to directly relate them to biochemical pathways.
Automated analysis of pathways will enable biopharmaceutical companies to accelerate drug discovery, to find new biomarkers, and to optimise clinical trials.
ClinPhone has appointed Vincent Renz as chief operating officer (COO).
Renz will coordinate all of the global operating groups that are responsible for the development, delivery and support of ClinPhone's clinical trial technology services to customers.
His focus will be on ensuring the optimal investment in ClinPhone's global infrastructure required to support the timely delivery of quality products and services, in a cost effective manner.
In his previous role as executive vice president and chief technology officer with eResearch Technology, Renz was responsible for building and managing the client services infrastructure required to scale the business in support of accelerated revenue and profit growth experienced by its core cardiac safety services.
Microbiology culture media specialist Lab M has appointed Colin LeGood in the role of export sales manager, as the company continues the development of its business world wide.
LeGood has a background in medical laboratory sciences and close to 20 years experience in diagnostics and devices sales.
Stable Micro Systems has announced the appointment of rheology expert Steve Smith as northern sales manager.
Steve will be the product specialist responsible for coordinating sales and customer support across all of Stable Micro Systems's product range for quality testing in the food, pharmaceutical, packaging, industrial materials and automotive industries.
Finally, Andrew Williams has joined radiochemical detection specialist LabLogic Systems as a sales executive.
A graduate in biochemistry, Williams is responsible for sales of the multi-technology Chameleon plate reader, the Triathler portable LSC / luminometer / Gamma counter, radiation safety products and radio-HPLC consumables.
