Softtech Health has launched the Link2intranet module, an extension of its Document Control software that is used by hospital laboratories across North America.
The module helps facilitate sharing between the staff who manage the laboratory's P and P documents, and the hospital's intranet users who need to view them.
The base Softtech Health Document Control system enables the lab to administer and control all of its policies, procedures, and other documents.
Maintaining proper document control over these files is considered critical for patient safety and regulatory compliance.
The Link2intranet module extends the reach of this policy management system, by making it easy for the lab to simultaneously put selected P and Ps on the intranet.
These might be SOPs that are needed by staff outside the lab, such as specimen collection procedures for nurses, or test ordering policies for physicians.
The benefits combine the regulatory compliance functions offered by the base Document Control system, with the Link2intranet module providing the added advantage of hospital-wide availability via the intranet.
Using the Link2intranet module enables RNs, physicians and others in the hospital to have read-only access to the P and Ps that they require on the intranet, with no need for the lab to spend extra time maintaining two separate sets of files.
Once the lab has published a specific P and P manual on the intranet, the Softtech Health system will automatically keep the intranet version up to date.
