Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing (CWCEC) has introduced a range of compact, conduction-cooled, rugged 1/2 ATR-style 3U CompactPCI systems.
The ultra-compact MPMC-931x range of multi-platform mission computers comes in five standard configurations.
Each of these fully developed system configurations features an integrated 28VDC power supply and either a DCP-124P SBC Power Architecture 7448 single-board computer (SBC) or a DCP-1201 Intel Core2 Duo SBC.
In addition, the MPMC-931x couples these processing capabilities with a variety of I/O modules to meet specific program requirements, such as graphics, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553 and Gigabit Ethernet Switching.
The MPMC-931x provides high functional density in a small package.
As a cold-plate-cooled system, the MPMC-931x is designed to ensure reliable operation in harsh environments.
Packaged in an ultra-compact form factor and equipped with various processing solutions, the MPMC-931x has all the elements required of modern mission computers in space- and/or weight-constrained applications.
Optimal system cooling is ensured via thermal transfer between the card edges of its conduction-cooled 3U cPCI cards and the base of the system enclosure.
Environmental and EMI sealing is employed to accommodate a variety of deployed platforms and environments.
The MPMC-931x uses advanced packaging techniques to provide processing power in a rugged enclosure that measures 141.5in3 and weighs 4.5lb, yet is able to operate and survive external air temperatures of +55C using a cold-plate-cooling approach.
This enables system designers to implement and deploy a processing system without the need for fans, vehicle-supplied air, liquid or other demands from the vehicle.
This rugged packaged commercial off-the-shelf (PCOTS) system can be readily configured to meet the needs of the full range of military or aerospace requirements, from benign laboratory to harsh deployed ground vehicle environments, simplifying and speeding up the development and deployment of critical applications.
According to the company, the MPMC-931x can reduce up-front development costs.
As a PCOTS system, it delivers economies of scale in production that reduce recurring costs while meeting the I/O, performance and environmental requirements of demanding military programmes.
It features a rugged enclosure designed to the meet military specifications, including MIL-STD-810 for environmental conditions, MIL-STD-461 for EMI and MIL-STD-704 for power.
This rugged computing system is designed to fill multiple roles in air and land vehicles.
