Portable unit enables technicians to collect tension/compression test data in the field, needing just four AA batteries for eight hours of use
Admet has introduced a battery-powered portable version of its Gauge Buster force/stress and displacement indicator.
The new portable unit is ideally suited for force calibration, remote on-site tension and compression testing and pre-stressing jacks. "We developed the portable Gauge Buster in response to requests from our service representatives and customers," said Richard Gedney, Admet founder and president.
"We know that testing is often done in remote locations where power is unreliable or unavailable or where battery power is more convenient.
"Now, technicians can easily collect and store data in the field, then return to the laboratory where information can be reported and analysed".
Gauge Buster portable is designed to be easy to use and reliable.
It is housed in a rugged carrying case and runs on four AA batteries.
The carrying case is 28x26x13cm and weighs 2kg.
It comes with four AA rechargeable batteries that provide enough power for eight hours of continuous operation.
A battery charger that runs off 110VAC or 12Vdc power is also included.
Gauge Buster portable has a low-power warning and shutoff that prevents the recording of inaccurate information.
It also features permanent memory that saves both test procedures and results, even when the batteries are removed.
Test results can be transferred to printers and/or computer spreadsheet programs and laboratory information management systems (Lims) in batch mode through the built-in serial port.
Gauge Buster portable for tension and compression testing exceeds American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E4 force accuracy requirements.
It conforms to ASTM C39 standards for cylinder break testing and ASTM C78 and C293 for beam tests. Gauge Buster portable for force calibration exceeds ASTM E74 Class A accuracy standards.
Gauge Buster stores multiple load cell calibrations and up to 400 test results to permanent memory. It displays live load, load rate and peak load/stress numerically and with a bar graph.
Test results and load/stress/displacement/time data can be downloaded to a computer for viewing results and load/stress v time graphs.
Gauge Buster portable units are available immediately directly from Admet, as well as from representatives and calibrators, for prices starting at US$1500.
Numerous accessories are also available, including pressure transducers and load cells.
