Addition of fluorescence detection to micro parallel liquid chromatography system increases sensitivity and selectivity and enables detection for separation-based assays
Nanostream announces the addition of fluorescence detection to its premier product, the Veloce micro parallel liquid chromatography ( PLC) system.
Nanostream developed this new feature in response to its customers' needs for greater sensitivity and selectivity.
The fluorescence detection add-on to the Veloce system increases its sensitivity and selectivity and enables detection for separation-based assays.
Separation-based assays are ratiometric and thus less prone to interference and provide more reliable data than traditional UV plate readers. Separation-based assays offer greater flexibility in attaching a tag to a substrate, thereby reducing assay development time.
With the addition of fluorescence detection, the Veloce system offers a high-throughput format for separation-based assays.
By enabling 24 simultaneous analyses, the Veloce system serves as a detector for a large number of samples.
"We listened to our customers' requests and respond accordingly with new features and enhancements to the Veloce system," said Steve Hobbs, applications development director at Nanostream.
"Our ultimate goal is to deliver a powerful tool that will enable our customers to meet increasing demands for analytical throughput".
Launched earlier this year (2004), the Veloce system used in conjunction with 24-column Brio cartridges increases the throughput of established HPLC techniques. Customers may now request fluorescence as an add-on package to the Veloce system, which comes standard with UV absorbance detection.
The Veloce system is designed to enable all detection modes to operate simultaneously so that orthogonal information is possible for every separation.
The system is also available with options for 96-well plates and vials in addition to the standard 384-well plate unit.
Nanostream says it will continue to evolve the Veloce system by offering a broad range of new product add-ons including new cartridges and other detection modes.
