Syrris has announced the US launch of the Lara Coflux reaction monitoring and calorimetry system.
Coflux uses a new form of calorimetry known as constant flux (CF), which is said to offer high levels of performance and flexibility at a low price.
CF technology is accurate and fast, needs no devices inside the reactor other than a temperature sensor, and allows real-time display of power and enthalpy.
Designed to be integrated with the modular and flexible Lara controlled lab reactor system (CLR), Coflux is a compact, cost-effective and user-friendly system.
Coflux does not require any time-consuming baseline calibrations, yet still offers excellent temperature control and experimental repeatability.
Richard Gray, Syrris's commercial director, said: "CF technology is based on a uniquely designed thermal jacket comprising of a series of coolant tubes that surround the reaction vessel.
"The coils can be rapidly opened or closed on demand.
"This massively reduces thermal response time and allows Coflux to track highly exothermic reactions at levels of 150W/litre or higher.
"By directly measuring and displaying power and enthalpy in real time, Coflux enables the rapid collation of reaction data without post-reaction data processing".
Coflux utilises Lara CLR software, providing simple yet powerful recipe design tools, coupled with real-time data acquisition and the incorporation of third party equipment.
It boasts improved functionality over existing systems and can work over -30C to +180C.
Such technical advances mean the Coflux can provide reliable and accurate reaction data required for hazard assessments and scale-up, process monitoring and reaction optimisation in a range of chemistry fields as well as the primary drug development field, says the company.
Syrris is offering no-obligation trials of the Coflux and Lara throughout the USA and Canada, so that tests can be carried out within user's own laboratories.
Constant Flux technology is applicable from laboratory to production scale.
Syrris has also announced a marketing collaboration with PSL, which has developed a ten litre system named ChemFlux, for pilot scale applications.
Connie Bird, PSL's marketing manager, said: "ChemFlux is ideal for scale up studies and small batch production, and paves the way for full production use of CF technology.
"We're working with Syrris to ensure that CF technology is rapidly taken up and widely used worldwide".
The two companies will be working together to offer users an integrated approach to adoption of the technology.
