Fume cabinet designed specifically for use in schools and colleges has four clear sides so that everybody can see what is happening, and is fully mobile and able to pass through a standard doorway
It is a well-known fact that a 'picture paints a thousand words'.
The same can be said for a practical science demonstration - it is better to see one than hear about it.
This has however always been a problem in the school science laboratory.
How do you show a whole class a practical science demonstration or chemical reaction while ensuring the safety of the students and teacher? Traditionally this has been carried out in a small and often ineffective wooden fume cupboard sited against a wall or window, while the whole class crowd around looking over the back of the teacher while the demonstration is carried out.
Hardly ideal conditions, most teachers would agree. Monmouth Scientific has launched its solution to this problem with a new mobile fume cabinet that has been designed specifically for use in schools and colleges, the Circulaire S100.
Fully mobile and with four clear sides, it can be placed in the centre of the laboratory where the class can gather around the unit, the teacher can face the class, and everyone can see what is happening - including the teacher.
"It is important that it is full mobile" explains Monmouth Scientific's managing director, David Pomeroy.
"The cabinet can pass through a standard doorway and be shared between classrooms, minimising the number of units required for a larger school".
Gas and water services can also be accommodated if required, as these are supplied on flexible, reinforced hoses that can be connected to an unlimited number of designated points in the school.
The large capacity carbon filters that are fitted into the base of the cabinet assure protection from the fumes of all potentially hazardous chemicals used within the GCSE and A Level curricula.
Monmouth says the carbon filters should last approximately three to four years with typical school and college usage.
